Bribery or highway robbery

Tonight Dan, Adrianne, and the boys were here for dinner. Mike and I had asked them to pick us up from the airport when we returned on 04 September about 11:55 pm. They said there would be a small price for that service. Then we asked Adrianne to pick Buttons up at camp (kennel) the day we returned. There was an added service charge and another when she agreed to check the house and collect the mail. I did remind them we would probably be broke when we got home--something about shopping and casinos. Well after SECONDS of negotiation we finally settled on dinner here as payment.
I suggested hot dogs but no...it had to be a three course dinner including the "famous pasta". They left alive and well so I guess we will be sleeping in our own bed when we return rather than on the baggage carousel at the airport!

EUREKA! - What I learned-not Kansas

Eight days and counting (it's after midnight). Today I learned that I can post to this blog via the BlackBerry so I don't have to take the laptop. Another thing I learned today was that if the laptop was accompanying us, I (the short one) would be in charge of toting that thing all over wherever we are going. Not my favorite job. Thank heavens the Blackberry is small and fits in my purse! Tomorrow I am going to learn how to take pictures with it and include them in the blog. I will warn you that I take excellent pictures (art quality) of the backs of peoples heads, the ceilings of buses, the inside of the lens cap, and last but not least----my own fingers. These are suitable for framing and while they are not expensive, neither are they inexpensive. After all I need to defray my costs a little. Plus that ups the shopping budget!

Just a test

Just testing to see if I can blog using Blackberry or if I have to take laptop.

SUITCASES

With only ten days and counting, Mike's major concern is how to pack for a four week trip in one suitcase, two suitcases maybe. And the small cases at that. Well...it's not going to happen that way. We can each check three bags (weighing no more than 70lbs. each) at no charge. If it takes all that to accommodate his clothes, my clothes, AND MY SHOES...so be it.* For those of you old enough to remember, or remember your parents telling you, the story of Gilligan's Three Hour Cruise, I am not taking my fur coat. Stay tuned for the story of Mike's packing suggestions.

* I may have to stuff newspaper or bubble wrap in at least one suitcase to make room for purchases. Everyone knows there is a law for women to make at least a couple of purchases while on vacation.
